Mother’s Day, you ask? No, I haven’t gone crazy, I just wanted to be prepared for next year. This gorgeous floral Mother’s Day card is my entry for two different challenges this week. I find challenges really help give me that boost of creativity I sometimes need. Colour challenges help by getting your mind around certain colour combinations you normally wouldn’t think about using. I’m not a huge fan of brown, but here I am using it in a way I wouldn’t have dreamed about before. Sketch challenges are great for helping you to think outside the box. There is very little stamping on this card, and normally I’d be stamping in that centre panel. So this is slightly out of my comfort zone.
I’ve used the colours from The Global Design Project’s Challenge #GDP009
And I’ve used the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #SSSC293
I really enjoyed both of these challenges. I hadn’t used Mint Macaron or Tip Top Taupe yet, but they were great to work with. I really love how the In Colors play so nicely together.
I’ve used the Cherry on Top designer paper stack again for this card and I am thrilled with how versatile that one little stack really is. The striped Tip Top Taupe paper is from the stack, but I felt it needed a little more oomph, so I used one of the splatter stamps from Gorgeous Grunge – one of my very favourite stamp sets. The sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. I dressed up the Flower Shop flower by adding a plain Watermelon Wonder cardstock flower punched with the Pansy Punch behind the stamped image, then added a ½” circle of silver glimmer paper and some silver sequin trim.
If you’re ever in need of inspiration or a creativity boost, definitely give a few challenges a go, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with your results!
