Global Design Project Challenge GDP024

Today I had a bit of free time and decided to play along with the Global Design Project Challenge GDP024.

The challenge this week is to CASE (there’s a few different definitions to this term, but I like “copy and share everything”, there’s also “copy and selectively edit”) a card created by one of their designers.

Here’s my card:

And here’s the card I drew inspiration from:

I took inspiration from the design itself. I knew I wanted a panel on the left. I knew I wanted patterned paper at the top and bottom, and I knew I wanted an image of some sort in the position of the butterfly in the card above.

I started with the Have A Cuppa designer series paper stack and went from there. Our designer series paper (DSP) stacks are wonderful things! I didn’t buy the matching stamp set and now I wish I had, it would have made creating this card a lot easier! Instead I used the cake from Endless Birthday Wishes, a set I really love and find to be very versatile with all the sentiments included. I created the panel using Lots of Labels framelits dies and because it was so narrow, I needed a sentiment that fit in nicely. I went with Hello and plan on adding a happy birthday of some sort to the inside of the card at a later date.

The card is finished off with our Bermuda Bay stitched ribbon and my favourite, favourite, favourite Wink of Stella clear glitter pen. Have I mentioned how much I love this pen? I’m pretty sure every single card I’ve made since I got Stella has had at least a little bit of glitter added to it. Yes, I’m calling her Stella – we’re on a first name basis now 😉 If you look closely at my card you should be able to see all the shimmery goodness that Stella created. I’ve oversharpened the image on purpose to make it easier to see.

I had fun playing along with the Global Design Project Challenge GDP024. I need to try to free up more spare time to get more challenges complete, they really boost my creativity. I’m also loving our designer series paper (DSP) stacks at the moment! This one has 48 sheets, 4 each of 12 double sided designs. So much choice and really good quality paper. And you have to love that they match all our ink and cardstock colours.
